The sad truth is that Casino Royale of 1954, a live television performance for the show called Climax!, is boring as hell and more dry than decades old crispbread. It could be a complete snoozefest if it didn't manage to be amusingly silly at times, but I only wish the silliness would be a stronger element instead of the dulling effect that. The one-hour television Casino Royale was screened at 8.30 pm on 21 October 1954 in the series Climax! Mystery Theatre (CBS 1954-8) sponsored by the Chrysler Corporation. It was broadcast in colour, but in that first year of colour TV in the USA very few people would have seen it that way, viewing in black and white instead. Casino Royale was released on 13 April 1967, two months prior to Eon's fifth Bond movie, You Only Live Twice. The film was a financial success, grossing over $41.7 million worldwide, and Burt Bacharach 's musical score was praised, earning him an Oscar nomination for the song ' The Look of Love '.

Years ago, before streaming was mainstream, I used to enjoy watching the Bond marathons on cable during the holidays. Over the past few years, those marathons have all but disappeared and I find myself streaming content more than watching cable. That’s meant a lot less 007 in my life and the nostalgia of being able to watch the movies back to back.
